The pun in the name of the Kings Fryer fish and chip shop isn't the only thing delicious about the shop! (I'm sorry, I promise I will never write anything like that ever again). Serving both fish and chips and Chinese food, the Fryer is the main fish and chip shop in the shopping area around Touchwood in Solihull. One thing I've noticed about the Fryer which I wish more fish and chip/ Chinese takeaways would do is that they have separate counters dedicated to the two different types of food, which helps reduce queues (and irritation!).  The prices are good (£3.20) for cod), and its open till midnight from Sunday to Wednesday, and 4am on Thursdays to Saturdays, so if you're wandering back from a night at Reflex down the road, it's a great place to stop for a bite.

What a great combination! This well-positioned chippy-come-Chinese is located just outside Solihull's popular Touchwood Centre and offers almost anything from traditional British fish and chips to crispy won tons and chicken chow mein. The gorgeous smell really pulls you in as you walk by and the odd culinary collaboration means once you're inside, the diversity of the wall-posted menu is pretty overwhelming.

Unfortunately, it's pretty pricey too. I paid £3.50 for Saveloy and chips and decided to go for this dish because all Chinese delicacies have to be waited for. The staff are friendly enough and Kings Fryer deserves credit for its originality and stellar location, but in my experience, other local chippies are much cheaper and other local Chinese Takeaways do a much better Chicken Curry!

I have never come across a takeaway shop which combines proper fish and chips with Chinese takeaway before! You can find scallops side-by-side with spring rolls on the menu and an extensive selection of Chinese food (available from 11.30am to 10.30pm) including all the favourites like chicken chow mein and sweet and sour prawns. It's in a great location too right outside Touchwood shopping centre.
The service is a little gruff and the chips weren't amazing. I like quite crispy chips but these weren't crispy at all and I think they were a tad undercooked. But I can't judge the whole international menu on a cone of chips so maybe if you're a fan of Chinese food you should check it out.
